Illuminated football stadium and field at night

The Baltimore Ravens outlasted the Atlanta Falcons 30-23 in overtime Sunday night, ending Week 5 with a road victory after Kyle Hamilton intercepted Atlanta backup quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on the Falcons’ final possession.

Baltimore improved to 4-1, while Atlanta fell to 2-3. The Ravens took a seven-point lead in overtime, but under the NFL’s current regular-season overtime format Atlanta still had an opportunity to answer. Hamilton’s interception ended the comeback attempt.

How the game ended

The Falcons stayed within one score through regulation and pushed the game beyond four quarters. Atlanta quarterback Michael Penix Jr. left late in regulation, forcing Tagovailoa into the game for the decisive possessions.

Baltimore produced the overtime touchdown that made it 30-23. Atlanta then advanced with a chance to extend the game, but Hamilton read the late throw and made the interception that secured the Ravens’ fourth win.

Why the result matters

  • Baltimore moves to 4-1: The Ravens kept pace near the top of the AFC after entering the night with several injury concerns.
  • Atlanta drops below .500: The Falcons could not finish a prime-time upset despite taking the game to overtime.
  • Quarterback health becomes the next question: Penix’s late exit will be a central storyline until Atlanta provides a medical update.
  • Hamilton delivered the final defensive play: His interception prevented Atlanta from matching Baltimore’s overtime score.

The result came on the same NFL Sunday that Jacksonville beat Philadelphia on a last-second field goal in London. Read AskNovus’ report on the Jaguars’ 19-17 win over the Eagles. Baltimore also entered the matchup after losing tight end Durham Smythe for the season; see the earlier Ravens injury update.

What comes next

The Ravens will turn to their Week 6 preparation with a 4-1 record. Atlanta’s immediate priority is determining Penix’s status. Any diagnosis, roster move or timetable should come from the Falcons or the league rather than social-media speculation.
