Trevor Lawrence completed 18 of 23 passes for 227 yards and a touchdown as the Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 22–17 on Sunday.
Jacksonville improved to 3–1 after holding off a late Cincinnati rally. The Bengals got the ball back with 1:56 remaining but could not produce the go-ahead touchdown.
Jacksonville controls the finish
Lawrence delivered an efficient performance, and Jacksonville built a 12-point advantage with 6:35 left. Bhayshul Tuten rushed 17 times for 73 yards, while Chris Rodriguez Jr. added a 25-yard touchdown run.
The win was Lawrence’s first over Joe Burrow in four career meetings, according to Reuters. Jacksonville’s offense did not need a high-volume passing day because it avoided the turnovers and stalled possessions that undermined Cincinnati’s late comeback attempt.
Burrow piles up yards in a loss
Burrow completed 39 of 54 passes for 428 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. The 428 yards marked his 29th career 300-yard game, breaking a tie with Andy Dalton for the most in Bengals history, according to Cincinnati’s official postgame notes.
Tee Higgins caught 11 passes for 157 yards. Chase Brown also made 11 receptions for 71 yards. Cincinnati cut the deficit to five with just under four minutes remaining, then regained possession, but the final drive ended without a score.
Ja’Marr Chase left with concussion symptoms after three catches for 27 yards. The available postgame reports confirmed his exit but did not establish when he might return.
Jaguars move to 3–1
Jacksonville’s 3–1 start reflects an offense that found enough balance to convert Lawrence’s accuracy into points. Cincinnati fell to 2–2 despite Burrow’s season-high yardage and Higgins’ productive afternoon.
