Person using a lawn mower on grass, illustrating a trimmer mower recall

October 11, 2026: DR Power Equipment is recalling about 42,860 Pilot and Premier walk-behind trimmer mowers because grass and debris can accumulate inside the machines and ignite, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The company has received 19 reports of the trimmer mowers catching fire. Two incidents caused minor injuries, including blisters on hands and feet. Consumers should stop using affected machines immediately and contact DR Power Equipment for a free repair kit or dealer installation.

Where and when the mowers were sold

Ace, Tractor Supply Company, Bomgaars and other hardware, home-improvement and power-equipment retailers sold the machines nationwide. They were also available at drpower.com from November 2022 through July 2026 for roughly $380 to $550.

About 340 additional units were sold in Canada. The recalled products were manufactured in the United States and Vietnam and imported by Generac Power Systems of Waukesha, Wisconsin.

How to get the free repair

Owners should stop using the recalled trimmer mowers while arranging the remedy. DR Power Equipment will provide a free repair kit. Anyone uncomfortable installing the kit can schedule free installation by an authorized dealer.
