AMC and AMC+ have ordered Happy Jack, a six-episode, half-hour family comedy starring Charlie Sheen and Martin Sheen as a father and son. Entertainment Weekly and TheWrap reported the announcement on September 29, 2026. The series is expected to begin production in Los Angeles in early 2027, with a 2027 premiere planned; AMC has not supplied a specific debut date.
The premise and creative team
Charlie Sheen is set to play Jack Chambers, a father of two grown daughters whose own father, played by Martin Sheen, helped raise them. The story turns on Jack’s reaction when one daughter introduces a boyfriend who is the same age as Jack, prompting him to reconsider how involved he wants to be in his daughters’ lives. That is the announced premise, not a review of episodes that have yet to be filmed.
Jim Patterson and Matt Ross are executive producers and co-showrunners. Both have worked on Two and a Half Men. TheWrap reports that the show will be filmed before a live audience at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank. AMC Studios is behind the project, and AMC Studios president Dan McDermott confirmed the order in a statement reported by the trade publication.
What has been confirmed
The order, leading cast, six-episode first season, format and production window have been reported. A precise premiere day, full supporting cast and episode titles have not been announced in the sources reviewed. The 2027 timing therefore remains a planned window rather than a firm release date.
The actors have previously played father and son on screen, including in Wall Street and Anger Management. The new project is a distinct AMC series, with the comedy’s focus on Jack’s adult family rather than a revival of either earlier work.
