September 29, 2026. Netflix announced that The One About Matthew Perry, a three-part documentary series about the actor’s life and career, will premiere on October 27. The release date and production details appear in Netflix’s September 29 announcement.
Mary Robertson directs the series. Maxine Productions, a Sony Pictures Television company, produced it. Netflix says the documentary uses interviews with Perry’s family, longtime friends and creative collaborators, as well as previously unreleased material from the family archive.
Who appears in the series
Netflix identifies Perry’s sister Mia Perry Bowick as a central participant. Its announced interview list also includes longtime friends Roger Castillo and David Pressman, former NBC Entertainment president Warren Littlefield, actor Kevin Pollak and people who worked with Perry on Friends and other projects. These are confirmed participants in the production, rather than speculation about its contents.
The series follows Perry from his early acting work through his role as Chandler Bing on Friends and his public advocacy related to addiction. Netflix’s description indicates it will also address his death in 2023. The finished series has not yet premiered, so this article describes the announced scope, not a review or account of unreleased episodes.
Release and production context
The three episodes are scheduled to arrive on Netflix on October 27, 2026. Robertson is also an executive producer with Lisa Kalikow, Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman, according to Netflix. The company has published a trailer and series page, giving viewers a direct way to check the release details as the date approaches.
The announcement adds to Netflix’s current slate of entertainment projects. AskNovus separately covered the company’s cast announcement for Tyler Perry’s thriller Confabulation.
