Jackson Chourio delivered a walk-off single as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the San Diego Padres 4–3 in Game 2 of their National League Division Series on Sunday, taking a 2–0 lead in the best-of-five matchup.

The Brewers now head to San Diego one victory from advancing. Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday night.

Chourio delivers the deciding hit

Chourio entered the decisive matchup hitless in three previous at-bats against Padres reliever Mason Miller, but his late single drove in the winning run. At 22 years and 207 days, he became the fourth-youngest player to produce a walk-off RBI in postseason history, according to MLB’s Game 2 review.

The hit also gave Chourio eight career game-tying or go-ahead postseason RBIs, moving him past Ryan Braun for the most in Brewers franchise history. Chourio has 15 postseason RBIs through 14 playoff games.

Milwaukee survives three errors

The finish rescued a Milwaukee team that committed three errors, tying its season high. Two came in the fifth inning, an unusual defensive breakdown for a club that relied on clean infield play throughout the regular season.

San Diego starter Michael King carried a hitless effort through 4⅔ innings. The Padres nevertheless could not close the game, and Miller was charged with his first blown-save-and-loss combination of the year after converting 38 of 41 regular-season save opportunities.

The comeback was consistent with Milwaukee’s regular season: the Brewers recorded 42 comeback victories and had baseball’s best record in games in which they conceded first, MLB noted.

Series shifts to San Diego

Milwaukee’s two home wins give it control of the series, but a 2–0 lead does not end a best-of-five matchup. The Padres will have home-field support in Game 3 and must win to extend their season.

Chourio’s performance adds another chapter to a postseason in which Milwaukee has repeatedly won close games. AskNovus previously covered the Brewers’ 3–2 victory in the Division Series opener.

The official MLB game story and Fox Sports box score list the final as 4–3.
