Assorted ice cream flavors in a chilled display case

Stewart’s Shop Corp. recalled two half-gallon ice cream products sold across New York, Vermont and New Hampshire because they may contain metal, the company and Food and Drug Administration announced October 2.

The company said it began the recall after a consumer found a metal object in one container. No injuries or illnesses had been reported as of the announcement.

Products included in the recall

  • Heavenly Medley, half-gallon package, UPC 0 82086 44371 1, best-by date February 10, 2027.
  • Vanilla-Chocolate-Strawberry, half-gallon package, UPC 0 82086 44377 3, best-by date February 11, 2027.

The affected products were available at all Stewart’s Shops in New York, Vermont and New Hampshire from July 17 through October 2, 2026. Shoppers should compare the flavor, UPC and best-by date rather than relying only on package appearance.

What consumers should do

Do not eat a recalled product. The FDA notice says customers may return it to any Stewart’s Shops location for a full refund. A person who believes they were injured by a foreign object should seek appropriate medical care and retain the package and purchase information if it can be handled safely.

This is a precaution tied to specific products and dates; the notice does not say that all Stewart’s ice cream is affected. The FDA page should be checked for any later expansion or correction.

Why foreign-material recalls matter

Metal fragments can cause cuts, dental damage, choking or injury to the digestive tract. Risk depends on the size and shape of the object, so visible inspection cannot reliably clear a product identified in a recall.

The action follows other recent food and beverage recalls, including the 7UP Tropical Zero Sugar recall affecting certain Utah lot codes. Each recall has its own products and distribution area, so consumers should use the identifiers in the official notice.
